About Dot Richardson

Dot Richardson is a trailblazer in the world of softball — a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, NCAA Player of the Decade for the 1980s, and the current Head Softball Coach at Liberty University. With over 400 collegiate coaching victories, six NCAA Regional appearances, and multiple “Coach of the Year” honors, she continues to inspire excellence both on and off the field.

Before leading Liberty University to national prominence, Dr. Richardson served as Director of the National Training Center and South Lake Hospital Sports, Health, and Education Campus in Florida, where she combined her medical background with her lifelong passion for athletics. As an orthopedic surgeon, motivational speaker, and author, her mission has always been to empower athletes — especially young women — to reach their full potential in sports, health, and faith.

Dr. Richardson’s leadership extends beyond the field through her founding of the Dot Richardson Softball Association and PFX Athletics, organizations that have created opportunities for countless athletes to learn, compete, and grow. She has been recognized nationally for her contributions to sports and community service, earning induction into multiple Halls of Fame and receiving the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award and Trailblazer Award for her lasting impact on the game.
